Welcome to the PMI - Pikes Peak Regional Chapter
Monthly Meeting Notice
Meeting Date: February 11, 2010
Location: Summit Ballroom, Fourth floor
Speaker: Ms. Aileen Ellis, PMP, PgMP, AME Group Inc.
Topic:
“Startups in a Down Economy: Starting your own business during a recession may be good for your wallet and your self-esteem. The why and how of starting and growing a business in a down economy. “ Sometimes the best decisions come to us not out of inspiration but out of necessity. So may highly talented professionals are out of work and have been for quite some time. There is a need for income, and maybe just as important, a need to build one’s self esteem. Come join Aileen of AME Group Inc, for a facilitated discussion with your peers on why the unemployed (and under-employed) may want to strike out on their own and start a small business. Find inspiration from others on the benefits of starting a business when the economy is down. Since post World War II most recessions average 10 months followed by growth cycles that last an average of 50 months. Let’s position ourselves for the next growth cycle and take control of our recovery, without relying on a government bailout.

The Process and Persona of Leadership for Project Managers Workshop
Speaker: Steve Hegele
Date: Saturday, April 10, 2010
Where: Colorado Technical University 4435 North Chestnut Street Colorado Springs, CO 80907
Earn: 4 PDUs
It’s been said that you:
"Lead people and Manage processes." "Lead from the front and Manage from the back." and....
This may explain why so many project managers struggle with project leadership! The duality of leading and managing at the same time is an ongoing challenge for many people in all management positions, but it is especially challenging for project managers due to the fact that they are often asked to influence others without direct authority. In this seminar we will discuss critical dynamics to this important and frustrating situation such as when it is appropriate to take the time and effort necessary to build commitment and when compliance is all that is needed.
You will begin to have a greater sense of clarity as to your natural or default leadership style and be introduced to an effective process to improve your ability to communicate in a more clear, candid and dynamic way in order to improve the buy in of productive team members and identify those people and issues that are keeping the you from running an effective process and achieving the desired results!
