The Process and Persona of Leadership for Project Managers Workshop

Location: Colorado Technical University, Colorado Springs Campus, 4435 North Chestnut Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80907
Event Time: 8:00am - 12:30pm April 10, 2010

Session Description

Whether you lead a team, a department, a division, or an entire business, everyone is responsible for building quality relationships, handling conflict and controversy, and ensuring customer satisfaction.  In the real world, knowing what to do and being able to successfully do it and get the desired results are sometimes two different things. This workshop will identify “what” to do, and more importantly, we will target “how” to get it done. We will break down the communication process that leaders use to get results and instill confidence in their teams. We will also talk through exactly how to handle real life business situations that when handled properly minimize, and in some cases, eliminate future problems, conflict, and controversy.  This workshop is designed to improve the “process and persona of leadership” for all Project Managers. If you are looking to improve the quality of your work, help retain the “right” people, or want to get yourself and your projects to the next level, this investment of time could make all the difference!

The outcomes for this program:

1) Learn the different techniques for building commitment vs. compliance and learn how to determine the circumstances when building commitment is the wrong approach.

2) Identify whether you are a “delegator” or “dumper” once and for all.  Learn the process where true ownership of a problem, or project are lifted from you, the leader/manager, and accepted by someone else.

3) Learn to understand/identify the skills/techniques of directing, supporting, coaching and delegating.

4) Learn the difference between positive and destructive conflict and how to channel and release the energy associated when conflicts, resistance, and controversy arise.

5) Leverage the personal and professional dynamics of working relationships to drive productivity, efficiency, and innovation.

6) Begin the process of uncovering your own signature style as it relates to leading, managing, motivating and communicating.

7) Understand that the bottom line of leading is candor and transparency.

8) Improve overall communication skills and effectiveness

9) Generate and release more “Pure Energy” from yourself and others.

Steve Hegele is the founder and CEO of Hegele Academy, a business built on the principles of Communication, Relationships, Energy and Commitment, keying in on the execution of knowledge.  Steve has a diverse client base, from pharmaceutical and medical device to manufacturing, from high tech to non-profit, from new and emerging companies, to companies more than 100 years old.  His clients span across the US and he also speaks internationally.

Steve’s candid, articulate style allows him to build trust quickly with businesses and audiences. He is well known for asking the kinds of questions that disrupt conventional thinking and lead to uncovering the critical core issues that limit the performance of organizations, teams and individuals. In addition, Hegele’s ability to articulate key business issues, critical relationship dysfunctions, and dynamic change and transformational opportunities, leads clients to breakthroughs and turning points as it relates to their processes and people issues.  His direct approach allows his clients to quickly target solutions that lead to measurable results.  Clients will say, Hegele is relentless in getting to the essence of the meaning of issues and situations as opposed to just figuring out who said and did what.  Hegele not only connects and engages quickly with clients and listeners, he does something more important and lasting; he helps facilitate and creates moments and opportunities for people to connect with each other in new meaningful and relevant ways.

Real Feedback, Real Growth, Real Progress, and all in Real Time! Steve’s high impact approach will change the way people think, speak and perform!  Not everyone on the team will necessarily “make the trip”.  Steve’s process identifies the skills and competencies necessary for organizational or individual growth.  Once identified, the learning process takes place in the “day to day” and is centered on YOUR business issues, not in a classroom. Clients will tell you that Steve’s approach and influence have created tangible turning points in individual careers and organizationally.  Unlike most traditional approaches, Steve’s success in these areas has come from applying these services in small and large group settings centered around real and relevant business and organizational objectives as opposed to being centered around a PowerPoint Presentation or manual.  Creating accountability among peers and associates has been a key to success.

To say Steve is a dynamic speaker would be missing the fact that his dynamic approach and dynamic experience lead to moments where people identify dynamic new insight into themselves, their work teams, their organizations, and even their most important aspects of their personal lives.

Steve’s presentation style is fresh, factual, dynamic, funny, provocative, insightful, wise and useful.  Steve is known for building trust and influencing action. His clients will say that he is “painfully” honest and candid which makes him a rare asset to those seeking real feedback which leads to measurable improvement. His reputation for being realistic while inspiring and motivating has lead to long and loyal relationships with clients.

Hegele lives his business motto: Knowledge is important, execution is essential!
